What To Expect
***For your first visit, please read our COVID Rules here***
And fill out new patient paperwork by creating an account here.
If you cannot fill out forms online, please arrive for your first appointment 10 minutes early.
Your First Appointment:
When You Arrive:
You will turn off your cell phone, pay at the front desk, fill out new patient paperwork if you haven't done it online, and wait for your acupuncturist to come and get you. If you are hungry, have low blood sugar, or haven't eaten for a few hours, please eat something before the treatment. We ask that you fill out new patient paperwork before coming to the clinic.

In the Treatment Room:
Treatments take place in reclining chairs. At your chair, in hushed voices, you will discuss your health concerns with your acupuncturists. You will roll up your sleeves and pant legs to expose your arms and legs. We will then place thin sterile needles, i.e. pins on your arms, legs, ears, and/or the top of the head and you get to rest or even nap. People typically rest with the needles in for about 30-60 min- you decide the length of time based on chair availability. Others in the room will be napping and resting as well. We treat all sorts of conditions including back, neck, shoulder, and inguinal pain using distal acupuncture - i.e. needles are placed at a distance from the painful area. Acupuncture works systemically and sends messages to brain to heal different areas, so we don't have to put needles where it hurts.

Your Treatment Plan
You'll be given a treatment plan based on your condition and its severity. Typically 2-3 treatments a week for a couple of weeks will create substantial results. Generally speaking the longer a problem has been going on, the longer it will take to see results. Changes made in your body require momentum- like riding a bicycle - if you only pedal occasionally the bicycle will lose momentum and stop. So in the beginning, we recommend getting treatments frequently, i.e. closer together, as opposed to once in a while so the changes in your body build on each other instead of starting from Day 1 each time.

The Sliding Scale
We wish to make acupuncture affordable for as many people as possible. We use a sliding scale to that end. Please pay what allows you to come in as often as you need. If you can afford to pay more, we really appreciate that. If you need to pay less, we really appreciate you being here just as much - your presence in the clinic makes a difference.
We will recommend a treatment plan based on your condition, its severity, and how long it's been going on. A treatment plan is a certain number of treatments a week for a couple of weeks or months. Acupuncture works best when treatments are spaced close together, for example getting 10 treatments in 2-4 weeks as opposed to 1 treatment every couple of months. The changes being made in your body require a kind of momentum - like riding a bicycle- if you only pedal every so often, you won't get very far before stopping. With acupuncture, treatments should be spaced closer together so changes build upon themselves, rather than continuously starting over at Day 1. So pay what allows you to get acupuncture frequently enough to get results.
If you have a higher income or less financial constraints, please consider paying on the higher end of the scale in an amount that still makes getting treatment possible. We are funded solely through patient fees, so paying what you can is very helpful to us and others receiving treatment as well. If you aren't sure where to pay on the sliding scale - this chart might be helpful:
Suggested payment based on income and # in household
Recommended payment per treatment when getting one treatment per week.
Adjust payment amount up or down with increased or decreased treatment frequency if you wish.
Adjust payment amount up or down depending on the presence or absence of financial concerns if you wish.
(I.e. student loans, medical bills, childcare, restitution, etc)
